  • Oct 24 is World Polio Day: don’t hesitate to share this important date
 
  • November 1, noon to 1pm is a virtual luncheon with RI President, Holger Knaack. Go to the District 5450 website to register. Guest speaker: Rachel Lonsdale of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Registration fee of $28, of which, $25 will go to support Polio +. Each $25 donation will be matched 2:1 for the Gales Foundation, helping vaccinate 125 children per registration.  Register at the District 5450 website.
 
  • Pack It Up Polio is a competitive fund-raiser between Interactor Clubs in the District. You can donate via the Rotary Club website.
 
  • 9Health Fair update:
  • Charlotte will be sending an email to Rotary volunteer today with info about your specific job, the floor map of the event, COVID19 safety/sanitation measures and the coupon for 20% off labwork fees for volunteers.
  • The set-up will be at noon Friday at Platte Canyon HS gym.
  • All volunteers should plan to arrive Saturday morning by 7am. The Bailey VFW 8661 will provide continental breakfast: juice, coffee and pastries/bagels.
  • If you want to sign up for labs, it is best to sign up online at onlinereg.9healthfair.org. You will need to pick an appointment time.
 
  • RI updates:
  • Jennifer Jones, Rotarian from Ontario Canada, will be the RI President for 2022-2023. She will be the first woman to hold the President position!
  • Dr. Tunji Funsho is the chair of Rotary Nigeria Polio + Committee …..Time Magazine made him one of the 100 most influential persons in the world for his work with Polio in Africa.
 
  • Mask Project update:
            172 masks went to the Boys and Girls Club of the High Rockies
            32 to Louisiana
            We have given away 9300 masks to date
            We do have kids masks and a few adult masks and the plan is to reach 10,000
     
    • Pat will be meeting with the Rotary International Committee tonight and will bring information to the Board meeting
     
    • The Board meeting will be at 6 pm Monday, October 19. Via zoom. All members are encouraged to attend. Let Marlis know if you want the link (not the same as the morning meeting zoom)
     
    • Youth Exchange update from Diana Phelps:
                The plan is to start an in-bound student next fall. Our outbound students are also planning to go in the fall. More slots are available for out-bound students. Scholarship funds are                       available. We have the McCall’s as one host families. We need a counselor and two more families. Go to the Rocky Mountain Rotary Youth Exchange website: RMRYE.org for more               information about the program and needs. All the safety procedures are being updated. Face to face planning is being done on zoom.
     
    • Mountain Bowls fund-raiser is done virtually this Thursday. Go to the mrcco.org website to donate and see all the goodies available.
    • Tall Grass Spa in Evergreen is sponsoring a fund-raiser for Mt Evans Homecare and Hospice. It is a mural creation on blocks of wood, which you can purchase and paint.
              Pick up your 4”x4” block at Tall Grass for $10 (or $25 if you also want the paint). Return your creation by November 1. It will be added to the mural that will celebrate 25 years for                Tall Grass! And the money will go to Mt Evans.
