Come to the social this weekend.

Announcements/Business:

  • Gail Sharp joined us to request donations for the Soldier Box Project.  It is a holiday season program to send personal essentials to our overseas troops working in remote areas where these items are scarce.  Please bring donations of personal care items, greeting cards with messages for soldiers, there is a collection box at MRC.  They will pack boxes to send on November 15, 8:30-10:30 a.m at Wild Game in Evergreen.  Last year the collections provided boxes for over 400 soldiers.  It costs over $17 for each box---$4000, so cash is also needed.
  • Thank you to Cathy Taylor and Lesley Landon for breakfast today.
  • Be sure to sign up for Salvation Army bell ringing.  There are sites in Bailey and at King Soopers and the KS Convenience Store in Conifer.  Click HERE to sign up, or go to Conifer Rotary webpage under the Weblinks tab.
  • The Board approved support for the Dolly Parton Imagination Library booth at the Conifer Christmas Parade and Market Place on Saturday December 7th.  We will need Rotarians to set up and man the booth in the tent.  We need someone to wear the Dolly Parton costume, those who weren't at the meeting are at the top of the eligibility list!
  • Support our District Governor Curt Harris’s 100 mile bike Ride to End Polio.  Click HERE for more information and to donate, or go to our Rotary Conifer homepage.  World Polio Day is Thursday, October 24th, share the news!
  • Day of the Dead party at the McCall’s is this Saturday, 6pm….potluck and optional costumes.  We will not have a morning meeting next week---this is our social event for this quarter.
  • The Rotary evening meeting is tomorrow, Wednesday, October 23, 5:30pm at St. Laurence Church.
  • Thanks to Marlis, Dean, Lesley and Christy for help unloading the food bank truck Thursday, October 24, delivering to the Back Pack pantry.

“About Me, Morti Longsdorf

Morti (Matilda)---and many additional names—was born in New York City and grew up mostly in Brooklyn.  Family business travels had her living in Europe and Africa during her elementary school years.  She is multi-lingual, thanks to those early years.  A dedicated student, she graduated from SUNY Oswego with an MBA in four years!

Her post-college endeavors found her heading west, to Microsoft initially with a group of friends.  After a few stops along the way, she ended up in Denver.  She fell in love with the arts scene, the housing, and the community.  She worked for a small company for 14 years, then moved to Kaiser Permanente.  She is married and has a daughter, Sarah, who is nearly 14 years old and attends Fitzsimons Middle School.  She was attracted to Rotary because her mother was a Rotarian and Morti developed a strong gift for giving back.
