For Ukraine, any US citizen can begin sponsoring refugees now. Angela has been really helpful in identifying a possible venue for placing a peace pole and setting up a peace park. Someone from Evergreen Rotary had a great idea for the peace club to better define what it means to build better friendships and goodwill.

Meeting Program: Conifer Foundation update from Wes Paxton, Suzanne Barkley and Tom Becker

  • The Foundation is part of the Rotary Club and raises money through the year which goes for the following years grants and scholarships.
  • Grants go to nonprofits that impact people in our community
  • Scholarships go to graduating seniors from Platte Canyon and Conifer HS who attend a two year, four year, or trade school after graduating.
  • Conifer Fest is a big fundraising event for the Foundation.
  • This will be our third year. It started in 2019, then we had a drive-in during 2020 due to covid, last year we did it at Beaver Ranch outside.
  • Beaver ranch is going through some enhancements and updates, because of this they can’t have the event this year.
  • This year, we are working with Father Tim at Our Lady of the Pines Catholic Church.
  • We will plan to walk the area behind the church to see what we’re working with a little more closely but it will be a nice space that includes 118 parking spots and has room for a stage and the beer/food/vendors.
  • The idea of the club doing a festival like this is to really wrap our arms around the community more and help the community know more about us as well.
  • Food trucks will be present for food variety and lots of food to feed people
  • Local vendors to sell their wares to try to make some money and draw more folks into the event
  • Mark your calendar for August 13th with setup on August 12th

Guests: Trish Cox, Ann Imse, and Bill Gough. Welcome!
