Rotary Evening Club Meeting May 25, 2016

 

Hugh attended the last board meeting and shared his notes from that meeting (which I will not repeat in these notes).

 

The transition (changing of the guard) meeting/party will be at Mark Rehm’s house on Saturday, June 18 at 5.  It will be preceded by a board meeting at 4:00.  The club will provide meats and everyone should bring a side dish.  Families are welcomed.

 

The highway cleanup will be Saturday, June 4 at 8 a.m.  Meet at Pleasant Park/285 (lower parking lot of the business buildings there ).

The board mentioned there was an open position on the foundation board with Ruth Morehouse leaving that position.  The evening group would like to nominate Angela Bassano to fill that position.

 

Will we have a booth at the Elevation Celebration?  With brochures, etc?  We don’t know.  Perhaps someone from the morning club might know.  That is July 30 and 31.

 

Peaches will be here the last weekend of August.  We discussed potential price increase to maybe $34 a box.  They are going up to $22 a box from the supplier.

 

We want to follow up with Christy Cragin (who missed the meeting) about how we can help with the projects for the food pantry (covered walkway and organizing the pantry).

 

Ruth Moore brought up the desire for better playground equipment in Conifer for kids who are preschool-aged (3-4) and older.  The kids aged 3-4 actually need it most because they're the ones who are being driven all the way to Marshdale or Littleton while the older kids are in school.  When school is out, all the children are able to use the elementary school playgrounds.  Beaver Ranch currently has a baby/toddler set and a difficult boot camp set but nothing in between, so I wondered about the possibility of Marshdale-like equipment there.  Jill will check with Beaver Ranch Board.  We ran out of time on this topic and will revisit it.

 

Angela is to be commended for wearing 3 pieces of Rotary attire (nametag, pin, and vest) and Jill for wearing a Rotary shirt.  All are encouraged to showcase their Rotary emblems/attire.

 

Our next meeting will be Wednesday, June 8^th at 5:30.  This will be Jill’s last meeting as chair – to be taken over by Hugh after that.
