PROGRAM:
The District Governor of Rotary District 5450
Abbas Rajabi

Abbas and his wife Sami joined us today to share his vision of Rotary and personal story.  He started his presentation by stating that he and Sami are American by choice, having emigrated nearly 50 years ago from Iran.  He is a mechanical engineer and has had his own business for many years.  He has been in Rotary 38 years and has participated in many overseas Rotary projects.

The Theme for the Year in Rotary: Rotary Making a Difference.  We provide service from our hearts, and loving is always contagious!  Abbas observed that Americans are the most giving people in the world.  Along with that, Rotary is one of the most efficient and benevolent service organizations in the world.  Unfortunately, we are not well known, those who give are not given the press that they need.  Rotary touches lives positively everywhere we go. the world is a better place because of Rotary.

In our battle to eradicate the globe of Polio, we have vaccinated 2.6 billion of children.  At this year's International Convention in Atlanta, Bill Gates pledged to donate to Polio  with two dollars for every dollar raised by Rotarians.  By the end of the convention, $1.2 BILLION dollars had been pledged in the fight against Polio.  We can foresee seeing the end of Polio on our planet!

Abbas encouraged us all to come to District Conference.  The next District 5450 Conference will be held May 19 and 20, 2018 in Denver.  It will be a “show and tell” for the general public as they will be invited to attend our House of Friendship.  Every Club will share the projects that they are doing for our communities.
Rotary is Service above Self, and it is a networking organization.  It is important to network and assist professionals as part of the Club.  Rotarians have “family” wherever they go in the world.

How can we grow Rotary?  Share the stories of Rotary.  Bring friends,  family members and co-workers to a meeting.  Let’s grow the Club!  We can make a difference!
